Nine Eswatini students have been awarded scholarships to pursue their tertiary studies in the Kingdom of Morocco. The students departed Eswatini for Morocco to study in various fields including: engineering, medical sciences, and computer technology, to name but a few. As a result of the fraternal relations, the awarding of the scholarships to students is one area that the Kingdom of Eswatini has forged strong cooperation with the Kingdom of Morocco.

The Conference was a preeminent gathering of minds committed to improving access to safe and quality health for all in Africa. It brought together participants from the five (5) continents, including Ministers, government officials, health practitioners, scientists, researchers, media representatives, and civil society, among others. The Conference presented an opportunity to share best practices and promote collective action in a bid to establish a sovereign healthy policy in Africa.
Special focus was on: “Health and environment harm reduction: air quality, global warming, respiratory diseases”; “Food security in Africa and the world: what harm reduction?”; “Nutrition and health education: future South-South perspectives”; “Drinking water: continental investment and capital”; and “Risk reduction and tomorrow’s ecosystems: the African equation”.
The Conference underscored the pivotal role of sustainable development through African-driven south-south cooperation. Further, it reaffirmed that health sovereignty is the fundamental right of all African nations essential for ensuring the resilience of the continental health systems; and acknowledged that health harm reduction is a holistic approach that necessitates addressing the root causes of health challenges.

The Kingdom of Morocco hosted the second edition of the Kofi Annan Road Safety Awards in Marrakech on the 25th and 26th of September 2023. Held under the theme, “Digital Transformation and Innovations for Safer Roads.” The event was jointly organized by the Ministry of Transport and Logistics of Morocco, the National Road Safety Agency (NARSA), the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Road Safety, and the Kofi Annan Foundation.
A delegation from the Kingdom of Eswatini was led by Hon. Chief Ndlaluhlaza Ndwandwe, the Minister of Public Works and Transport. On behalf of the Kingdom of Eswatini, the Hon. Minister also had the privilege and honor of accepting the Kofi Annan Road Safety Award, honoring Eswatini for the strides the country has made in “Road Safety Management.”
The Kofi Annan Road Safety Award recognizes governments, the private sector, civil society, other organizations, and individuals who have made outstanding contributions to road safety in Africa. The Second edition of the Award specifically appraised governments that have implemented outstanding measures and actions to achieving the objectives of the second United Nations Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021-2023, aimed at halving road deaths by 2030.

The Embassy attended and rendered support when the National Team, Sihlangu Semnikati, faced the Republic of Burkina Faso in the African Cup of Nations (AFCoN) qualifier match in Marrakech, Morocco. Eswatini students enrolled at various universities in Morocco also joined the Embassy and other Emaswati in support of Sihlangu, which ended in a draw.

Eswatini and Morocco have long-standing diplomatic and fraternal relations that date back to the 90’s. The brotherly Kingdoms are both dedicated to the enhancement of their cooperation in several areas, including but not limited to agriculture, culture, education and training, and ICT. To that end, the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Honorable Mabulala Maseko had the pleasure of receiving H.E. Mohamed Methqal, Ambassador Director General of the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI) in Mbabane, Eswatini.
Following this meeting, Ambassador Methqal also paid a courtesy call on the Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Sizwe N. Ntshangase.

On 5th July 2023, the Embassy participated in the First Eswatini-Morocco Experts Meeting convened by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Eswatini. This meeting was geared towards enhancing cooperation between the brotherly Kingdoms in key economic sectors including Health, Agriculture, Trade, Youth development, and Tourism. Senior Government Officials from the relevant Ministries participated in this crucial meeting. The Moroccan delegation was led by Mr. Brahim Bah, Head of the Central and Southern Africa Division within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates of the Kingdom of Morocco. The Eswatini delegation was led by Bawelile Simelane, Head of the International Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
